Snowfall Jan. 28, 2009

Nathan Frankovitz and his cousin Noah built this snowman on Shagbark with the help of Nathan's older brother Brian.

The snowman started out with beer bottle eyes and a red nose, but they decided to clean up his image and gave him
bottle cap eyes, a carrot nose and a more smiley mouth.  Eyebrows too, which he later lost.

Brian is 6 ft. tall, which puts the snowman over 8 feet!  The secret to building a tall snowman?  Use a snow ramp!

After a few days he started to lean a bit so they propped him up with a rake but he seems to be enjoying his last day in the sun.
The sombrero adds a jaunty touch, don't you think?

The snowman of John & Ethan Topham was built atop a big snow pile at the clubhouse.

Holiday Party 2008
On December 21, some hardy residents braved a wind chill of -10 to come to a holiday party at the clubhouse.
Kids decorated cookies and adults visited with each other, then livened things up with some Christmas songs.

Foot Bridge
July 2008: Boy Scouts and some willing helpers build a foot bridge over Alverna Creek in the lovely woods of North Willow Farms
which form the northern loop of Daubenspeck Community Nature Park.

Garden Tour 2008

Kay Kelly's beautiful garden was the first on the tour. Pavers set off plants below.

Joan Bumpus has added a patio to both her front and back yard. Her good friend Pat has helped with much of the gardening.

A two-level pond adorns the Japanese-inspired garden of Maggie Lewis, and below is her trellis covered with wisteria.
Maggie is also a bird watcher and also loves to go birding at Daubenspeck.

Jeanne Mueller uses sections of picket fence to frame a section of her garden.

Famed North Willow gardener Margie Hixson explains to a visitor; on the right are some plants from Margie's annual plant sale.

Martin Radecki poses with his work. Martin and his wife did all the hardscaping themselves. Below is their vegetable garden.

The jaw-dropping patio and garden of Jan Daniels. Below is a fountain, in one of many planted areas.

The Radecki's and Daniels' homes (above) can be seen from the recreation path that goes from Chestnut Court to the North Willow woods.

Hostas and ferns abound in the garden of the Boslers, but it's the lillies their cat loves.

Family Night
About 70 parents and kids gathered at the clubhouse for Family Night on March 21, 2008 to enjoy games and good times.
